정원이 대폭 늘어난 의대 입시를 위해 속속 휴학에 나서고 있다는 분석이다.

24일 종로학원 등에 따르면 지난 17일 기준 올해 서울대에 입학한 1학년 재적생 3467명 중 248명(7.2%)이 휴학을 신청했다.

서울대는 다른 주요 대학들과 다르게 1학년 1학기 휴학을 허용한다.지난 3월8일 기준 휴학생 수는 119명이었다.

서울대의 1학년 1학기 휴학생 수는 2020년 109명,2021학년 150명,2022년 214명,2023년 252명 등으로 지난해까지 매년 증가해왔다.

계열별로 보면 자연계열 휴학생 수는 130명(52.4%)였다.인문자연통합계열은 89명(35.9%),인문계열은 28명(11.3%),경마 기수 상금예체능 계열은 1명(0.4%)이었다.

단과대별로는 공과대학(60명),경마 기수 상금농업생명과학대학(51명),사범대학(25명),첨단융합학부(25명),자연과학대학(22명),간호대학(18명) 순으로 휴학생이 많았다.

재적생 대비 휴학생 비율로 봤을 땐 간호대학(25.4%),농업생명과학대학(15.3%),경마 기수 상금첨단융합학부(10.9%),자연과학대학(7.8%) 순이었다.

입시업계에선 입학 후 얼마 되지 않아 휴학하는 서울대 학생들 대부분이 의대 진학을 노리고 반수를 하는 것이란 분석이 나온다.

임성호 종로학원 대표는 "올해 서울대 10개 중 8개 학과 꼴로 의대 최저 합격선을 넘어간 것으로 확인됐다"며 "모집정원 확대로 인해 의대 합격선이 하락된다면 거의 전학과가 의대 합격선을 넘어갈 것으로 예상된다"고 말했다．
