(서울=연합뉴스) 김계환 기자 = 세계에서 가장 오래된 책 가운데 하나로 평가되는 이집트 성경 사본이 경매에 나온다고 영국 일간 텔레그래프가 9일(현지시간) 보도했다.

이에 따르면 이집트 성경 사본은 3~4세기경에 작성된 것으로 알려진 기독교 전례서인 크로스비-쇼엔 코덱스(Crosby-Schøyen Codex)가 11일 런던 크리스티 경매장에 온다.

예상 경매가는 200만~300만파운드(약 25억1천만원~52억7천만원)이다.

이집트의 한 수도사가 파피루스에 콥트어로 작성한 크로스비-쇼엔 코덱스는 104쪽 분량의 초기 기독교 문헌이다.

베드로서와 요나서 일부가 실린 이 문헌은 알 수 없는 이유로 약 1천500년간 묻혀 있다가 발견됐다.

크리스티의 서적과 필사본 전문가인 유지니오 도나도니는 크로스비-쇼엔 코덱스가 "기독교 연구에 혁명을 일으킨 20세기의 세 가지 발견 중 하나"라고 강조했다.

지중해 주변에서 기독교가 처음 전파되던 당시의 자료인 데다,파쿤도 펠리스트리유대교 전통에 여전히 경도돼 있으면서도 스스로를 이와 구분되는 '기독교인'으로 규정하던 초기 디독교인들의 모습을 볼 수 있기 때문이라고 그는 설명했다.

크로스비-쇼엔 코덱스는 1981년까지 미시시피대학이 소장했으나 이후 여러 사람의 손을 거쳤고 1988년부터는 노르웨이 서적,파쿤도 펠리스트리필사본 수집가인 마르틴 쇼엔이 가지고 있었다.

쇼엔은 이번 경매에 크로스비-쇼엔 코덱스 외에도 13세기 히브리어 원고가 포함된 61점의 소장품을 내놓을 예정이다.
