현 대전시의원이 지난 총선 때 30대 여성 직원을 성추행했다는 의혹이 제기돼 경찰이 수사에 나섰다.

2일 대전 대덕경찰서 등에 따르면 국민의힘 소속 대전시의회 A 의원이 지난 2월 총선 캠프에서 함께 일했던 30대 여성 직원을 성추행했다는 신고가 전날 접수됐다.

A 의원은 지난해에도 시의회 직원을 성희롱했다는 의혹을 받아 국민의힘 대전시당으로부터 당원권 정지 1개월의 징계 처분을 받은 바 있다.

해당 의원은 "후반기 원구성 등 시의회가 시끄러운 와중에 불미스러운 일이 생겨 공인의 한 사람으로서 죄송하다"며 "원만하게 합의를 해서 정리될 것으로 예상된다.지켜봐 달라"고 말했다.

국민의힘 대전시당 윤리위원회는 이날 오전 10시부터 A 의원에 대한 징계 절차에 들어간 상태다.

이와 관련 더불어민주당 대전시당은 논평을 내고 A 의원의 사퇴를 촉구했다.

민주당 대전시당은 "반성의 기미도 없이 같은 행동을 반복한 A 의원의 강제 추행은 최소한의 부끄러움이나 죄의식조차 느끼지 않는 '인면수심'의 전형"이라며 "국민의힘은 무한책임의 자세로 '성범죄 예방을 위한 근본적 대책'을 마련하고 A 의원을 제명하라"고 비판했다.
