현대건설은 18일 홍대입구역 라이즈 호텔에서 국토교통부와 대장∼홍대 광역철도 민간투자사업 실시협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이날 서부광역메트로(가칭·대표사 현대건설)와 국토부는 사업 시행 조건에 합의하고 내년으로 예정됐던 착공을 연내로 앞당기기로 합의했다.

이 사업은 경기 부천시 대장신도시와 서울 마포구 홍대입구역을 잇는 총연장 20.03km의 광역철도를 건설하는 공사다.정거장은 12개소,블록 체인 홀덤총사업비는 2조1287억원에 달한다.

2030년 대장∼홍대선이 개통 시 부천에서 홍대까지 가는 데 소요되는 시간이 기존 50분에서 25분으로 단축될 전망이다.

앞서 현대건설은 컨소시엄을 구성해 2020년 최초 제안했다.이후 적격성 조사부터 실시협약 체결까지 3년 반 만에 추진됐다.

국내 최초로 수익형 민자사업(BTO)과 임대형 민자사업(BTL)이 혼합된 사업방식이 적용됐다.이를 통해 사업자와 이용자의 부담을 낮출 수 있었다는 게 현대건설 측 설명이다.

윤영준 현대건설 사장은 이날 협약식에서 “수도권 광역철도망 확충을 위해 당사의 보유한 최고의 기술력과 역량을 모두 결집할 것”이라며 “도심지를 관통하는 공사인 만큼 시민의 안전과 편의를 최우선적으로 확보하고 이용객을 고려한 제반 사항들을 세심히 살펴 수도권 교통망을 획기적으로 개선하겠다”고 말했다.
