지난달 경기 남양주시의 한 도로에서 한 SUV 차량이 터널 안을 역주행하는 아찔한 상황이 벌어졌습니다.

면허 취소 수준의 만취 상태에서 차량을 몬 이 남성은 경찰 조사에서 기억이 안 난다고 말했습니다.

[박상준/경사/남양주북부경찰서 교통안전계 : "그분이 얼굴 자체가 좀 빨갛고 술 냄새가 나더라고요.술 드셨냐고 물어봤더니 바로 소주 두 병 먹었다고…."]

경찰의 음주측정 결과,혈중알코올농도는 면허취소 수치를 훌쩍 웃도는 0.169% 였습니다.

근처 음식점에서 술을 마시고,약 1km 거리를 역주행한 이 남성은 경찰 조사에서 "역주행인지 몰랐다"며 "아무런 기억이 안 난다"고 말했습니다.

[박상준/경사/남양주북부경찰서 교통안전계 : "그분한테도 말한 게 선생님 이렇게 음주 단속된 건 안타깝지만 정말 운이 좋으셨다.혹시나 속도를 못 줄인 차가 있으면 인명피해까지 났을 수 있다."]

경찰은 이 남성을 지난달 30일 도로교통법 위반 혐의로 검찰에 넘겼습니다.
