(군산=연합뉴스) 정경재 기자 = 새만금 방조제 인근에서 멸종위기종 토종고래인 상괭이 사체가 잇따라 발견됐다.

10일 전북 군산해양경찰서에 따르면 해경은 전날 새만금 방조제 너울쉼터 인근에서 상괭이 사체 2구를 발견했다.

해경은 불법 포획 흔적은 없는 것으로 보고 '고래자원의 보존과 관리에 관한 고시'에 따라 인근 지자체에 사체를 인계했다.

상괭이는 2016년 해양 보호 생물로 지정돼 유통·판매할 수 없으며 불법 포획하면 처벌받는다.

박경채 군산해경서장은 "올해 관내에서 발견된 상괭이 사체 6구 중 불법 포획을 의심할만한 건은 없었다"며 "방조제 주변에서 상괭이 사체를 발견하면 즉시 해경에 신고해달라"고 당부했다.
