내년 최저임금도 지금처럼 업종별로 차등 적용하지 않고 단일 액수가 적용된다.

최저임금위원회(최임위)는 2일 정부세종청사 최임위 회의실에서 7차 전원회의를 열고 업종별 차등 적용 논의를 이어갔지만,아시아 월드컵 2차예선노사 간 이견을 좁히지 못한 채 표결을 진행했다.

표결엔 노동자위원 9명과 사용자위원 9명,아시아 월드컵 2차예선공익위원 9명이 참여했다.결과는 찬성 11표,반대 15표,무효 1표로 업종별 차등 적용은 부결됐다.

최저임금 업종별 차등 적용은 최저임금 적용 첫해인 1988년 한 번만 이뤄졌고 이후 차별 논란이 일며 현재까지 36년간 업종과 관계없이 단일 최저임금이 적용됐다.

사용자위원들은 지난 6차 전원회의에서 한식과 외국식,아시아 월드컵 2차예선기타 간이 음식점업,택시 운송업,아시아 월드컵 2차예선체인화 편의점에 최저임금 차등 적용을 요구했다.최저임금법은 사업의 종류별로 최저임금을 구분해 정할 수 있다고 규정하고 있다.

사용자위원들은 이들 업종의 1인당 생산성이 낮고 주요 경영지표가 전체 업종 가운데 하위 10%에 해당하는 등 최저임금 지급능력이 떨어진다는 점을 근거로 내세웠다.

하지만,아시아 월드컵 2차예선근로자위원들은 특정 업종에만 낮은 최저임금을 산정할 경우 낙인효과로 해당 업종의 몰락을 가속화하고,노동자의 최저 생계를 보장하려는 최저임금법 취지에 맞지 않는다며 반대했다.

이날 회의 모두발언에서도 근로자위원인 이미선 민주노총 부위원장은 "이들 업종의 경영난과 인력난을 해결하기 위해선 근본 문제인 불공정 거래,비정상적 임금 구조,아시아 월드컵 2차예선과당 경쟁 문제 등을 개선해야 해결되는 문제"라며 사용자단체를 비판했다.
