[앵커]

과외 앱을 통해 만난 또래 여성을 살해하고 시신을 유기한 정유정에 대해 대법원이 무기징역을 확정했습니다.

정유정은 심신미약 등을 주장하며 형이 너무 무겁다며 상고했지만,아이신대법원은 받아들이지 않았습니다.

김태훈 기자의 보도입니다.

[리포트]

여행 가방을 끌고 어디론가 향하는 여성.

지난해 5월 20대 또래 여성을 살해한 정유정입니다.

정유정은 과외 앱을 통해 54명에게 대화를 걸어 범행 대상을 물색했고,아이신과외를 받을 중학생인 것처럼 속여 혼자 사는 피해자의 집에 들어가 흉기로 찔러 살해했습니다.

이후 시신을 훼손해 여행용 가방에 담아 경남 양산의 한 풀숲에 유기했습니다.

[정유정/지난해 6월 : "(피해 여성을 범행 대상으로 특정한 이유가 뭔가요?) 피해자와 유가족들에게 정말 죄송합니다.제정신이 아니었던 것 같습니다.죄송합니다."]

정유정은 재판 과정에서 60여 차례에 걸쳐 반성문을 제출하며 불우한 가정사와 심신미약 등을 주장했습니다.

하지만 1심 재판부는 "범행을 치밀하게 계획하고 준비했다"며 무기징역을 선고했고,아이신2심 재판부 역시 "비난 가능성이 매우 크다"며 원심을 유지했습니다.

다만 검찰이 구형한 사형은 극히 예외적으로 행해져야 하고 정유정에게 교화 가능성이 없다고 판단하기 어렵다며 받아들이지 않았습니다.

정유정은 형량이 무겁다며 불복했지만 대법원은 "원심의 판단이 부당하다고 볼 수 없다"며 정유정의 상고를 기각하고 무기징역을 확정했습니다.
