29일 다큐제주와 제주대 돌고래 연구팀에 따르면 전날 오후 5시 51분께 제주시 구좌읍 하도리 연안 바다에 수㎞에 걸쳐 기름띠가 떠다녔다.

다큐제주 측은 돌고래 무리 관찰 중 기름띠를 발견하고 해경에 알렸다.

넓은 기름띠 사이로 보호종인 남방큰돌고래 무리가 지나가는 장면도 카메라에 잡혔다.

오승목 다큐제주 감독은 "기름띠를 발견할 당시 주변에 좌초된 선박은 없었다"면서 "돌고래 주요 활동공간에 각종 폐어구를 포함한 쓰레기가 있고,아시안컵 위상 디시기름 유출 오염까지 생기는 안타까운 상황이 자주 발생한다"고 말했다.
