(전주=연합뉴스) 임채두 기자 = 올해 들어 전북에서 백일해 환자가 36명 발생한 것으로 나타났다.

국가예방접종 대상 법정 감염병 2급인 백일해는 보르데텔라균에 의해 발생하는 호흡기 감염병으로,발작성 기침이 특징이다.

100일간 기침을 할 정도로 증상이 오래 가기에 백일해라는 이름이 붙었으며 사망자 대부분은 3∼４개월 미만의 영아다.

19일 전북특별자치도가 제시한 질병관리청 자료에 따르면 지난 17일 기준 올해 백일해 환자는 전국적으로 2천416명이다.

백일해가 한창 유행했던 2018년(980명)을 뛰어넘었다.

전북 지역 올해 백일해 환자는 36명으로 2020∼2023년 환자 수(11명)를 훌쩍 넘겼다.

36명 중 소아(7∼19세) 환자가 28명(77%)이다.

전북자치도는 도교육청 등 유관기관에 백일해 환자 발생 현황을 알리고 예방접종 독려,베트남 복권호흡기 감염병 예방 수칙 준수,확진자 감시체계 강화 등을 요청했다.

백일해를 예방하려면 손 씻기,베트남 복권기침 예절 준수 등 개인위생이 중요하며 의심 증상이 발현하면 신속히 병원 진료를 받아야 한다.

이명옥 도 감염병관리과장은 "영유아기에 접종한 백신의 효과가 점차 떨어질 수 있으니 적기에 추가 접종을 해야 한다"며 "특히 단체생활을 하는 소아·청소년은 전파 우려가 크니 반드시 추가 백신 접종에 참여해달라"고 당부했다.
