고인은 1988년까지 한국통신 사장으로 일한 뒤 1989∼1990년에는 체신부 장관을 지냈다.1985∼1989년 대한사격연맹 회장으로 국제올림픽위원회(IOC) 상임위원을 지냈고,겐팅 하이랜드 호텔 카지노1986∼1997년에는 국제사격연맹(UIT) 부회장을 역임했다.
