서울 시청역 역주행 사고 차량이 호텔 주차장에서 빠져나온 직후부터 가속한 것으로 조사됐습니다.

경찰은 원인 조사를 위해 사고 차량과 관련 CCTV 영상 등을 국립과학수사연구원에 맡겨 감식을 의뢰했습니다.

시청역 근처에서 역주행해 행인 9명을 숨지게 한 차량이 호텔에서 출발할 때부터 가속을 시작한 것으로 조사됐습니다.

경찰은 영상확인 결과 승용차가 주차장 지하 1층에서 나왔으며,KBL농구일정표출구 쪽에 턱이 있는데,KBL농구일정표그때부터 가속을 했다고 밝혔습니다.

경찰은 운전자의 '급발진 주장'을 확인하기 위해 해당 차량과 블랙박스 영상,KBL농구일정표관련 CCTV 영상 6점 등을 국립과학수사연구원에 감정 의뢰했습니다.

"차량의 속도·급발진·제동장치 작동 여부 등과 관련해서는 어제 해당 차량을 국과수에 감정을 의뢰했습니다."

앞서 버스회사에서 운전기사로 일하는 68살 남성 운전자는 급발진이 사고 원인이라고 주장했습니다.

사고 차량에 동승한 부인은 경찰조사에서 "브레이크가 들지 않았다"고 진술한 것으로 확인됐습니다.

다만,KBL농구일정표사고 운전자를 교통사고처리특례법상 치사 혐의로 입건한 경찰은 운전자의 부상으로 아직 피의자 조사를 하진 못했습니다.

경찰은 운전자의 입원 기간이 길어질 경우 방문 조사도 고려할 계획입니다.

한편,KBL농구일정표경상자 1명이 추가 확인되면서 이번 사고로 숨지거나 다친 사람은 16명으로 늘었습니다.

숨진 피해자 9명의 장례는 서울대병원 등 세 곳에서 진행 중입니다.
