지상파항법시스템 고도화 미래상

(대전=연합뉴스) 박주영 기자 = 선박해양플랜트연구소는 선박이 해상에서 끊김 없이 위치·항법·시각(PNT) 정보를 이용할 수 있는 첨단 지상파항법시스템(eLoran)을 고도화한다고 19일 밝혔다.

선박이 위치·항법·시각 정보 수신 시 이용하는 기존 미국의 위성항법시스템(GPS)은 2만㎞ 떨어진 상공에서 인공위성을 통해 전파를 송출하기 때문에 전파 간섭이나 교란에 취약하다.

GPS 전파 교란은 이동통신 장애,슬롯 효과음어선 조업 중단,슬롯 효과음여객선 우회,슬롯 효과음항공기 운항 차질 등을 일으킬 수 있다.최근 서해에서도 북한의 GPS 교란으로 여객선·어선 GPS 오작동이 잇따랐다.

연구소는 2020년 해양수산부와 공동으로 위성이 아닌 지상 송신국을 활용해 안정적으로 PNT 정보를 제공할 수 있는 지상파항법시스템 개발을 완료했다.

2021년 6월 인천 소청도에 송신국을 신설,슬롯 효과음서해 북부지역을 중심으로 시범 서비스를 진행 중이다.

연구소는 지상파항법시스템의 안정적인 전국 서비스망을 구축하고 위치 정확도를 높이는 등 기술을 고도화할 계획이다.

2027년까지 지상파항법 송신국시스템의 양방향 기준시 전송·무제한 시각 동기 기술,슬롯 효과음신규 신호 규격과 변복조 기술을 적용한 150㎾(킬로와트) 이상의 고출력 송신기,지능형 학습 모델을 활용해 광역보정 정보를 생성·제공하는 지상파 광역 보강 항법 시스템을 개발할 계획이다.

기술 개발이 완료되면 위치 정확도 성능이 기존 20ｍ 이내에서 10ｍ 이내로 향상될 것으로 기대된다.

홍기용 소장은 "자율운항 선박,무인선박 등 미래 해양 모빌리티 시대에는 PNT 정보를 함께 전송할 수 있는 지상파항법시스템의 활용도가 더욱 높아질 것"이라며 "앞으로도 해양 공공 안전과 해양 교통 체계 발전을 위한 기술을 지속해 개발하겠다"고 말했다.
