(부산=연합뉴스) 민영규 기자 = 선박에서 배출되는 이산화탄소를 포집,호주 시드니 멜버른저장하는 설비를 갖춘 국내 첫 컨테이너선이 오는 3일 출항해 본격적인 실증 작업에 들어간다.

친환경설비 전문기업인 파나시아는 1일 전남 목포에 있는 한국메이드 조선소에서 HMM,호주 시드니 멜버른삼성중공업,한국선급과 국내 첫 선박용 이산화탄소 포집·저장 장치(OCCS) 프로젝트를 성공적으로 마무리했다고 2일 밝혔다.

이 프로젝트는 HMM의 2천100 TEU(1TEU는 20피트 컨테이너 1개)급 컨테이너선 '몽글라(MONGLA)'호에 배기가스 가운데 이산화탄소를 시간당 1t,하루 최대 24t 포집해 액체 상태로 저장하는 설비를 장착하는 것이다.

이는 OCCS 가운데 세계 최대 규모라고 파나시아는 설명했다.

이산화탄소 포집 장치는 파나시아가,포집한 이산화탄소를 액화해 저장하는 장치는 삼성중공업이 각각 개발했다.

이를 위해 파나시아,삼성중공업,HMM,한국선급은 지난해 4월 '선박용 탄소 포집 시스템 실증 업무 협약'을 체결하고 본격 프로젝트에 착수했다.

HMM 등은 오는 3일 몽글라호를 출항해 6일부터 선상 실증 연구를 진행할 계획이다.

이민걸 파나시아 대표는 "이번 선상 실증을 통해 OCCS 설비 안전성을 확보하고 선박에서 포집된 이산화탄소의 저장부터 자원으로 활용하는 것까지 전주기 시스템을 완성할 계획"이라며 "이산화탄소로 고부가가치를 창출하고 글로벌 친환경 선박 기술 시장을 선도해 나갈 것"이라고 밝혔다.

파나시아는 이 밖에도 메탄올,호주 시드니 멜버른암모니아 등의 연료공급 시스템과 육상용 전원공급 장치 등 이산화탄소를 줄이고 탄소중립을 실현할 수 있는 다양한 솔루션을 개발하고 있다.
