법무부는 28일 기자들에게 보낸 대변인실 명의의 공지에서 "언론 기사에서 대통령의 '거부권'과 '재의요구권'이라는 용어가 혼재돼 사용되고 있다"며 "대한민국 헌법에는 대통령의 법률안에 대한 '거부권'이라는 용어는 없고 '재의요구권'만 있을 뿐"이라고 밝혔다.

법무부는 "'거부권'이라는 용어가 헌법이 규정하고 있는 적법한 입법 절차인 '재의요구권'에 대해 자칫 부정적인 어감을 더할 수 있는 측면이 있어 말씀드린다"고 덧붙였다.

법무부가 입법 절차상의 용어에 대해서까지 설명하는 것은 다소 이례적으로 받아들여진다.
