[서울=뉴시스]이현주 기자 = 롯데마트가 씨 적은 수박의 신품종인 '씨적은 블랙 수박'과 '씨드리스 그린 수박'을 오프라인 채널 단독으로 선보인다고 19일 밝혔다.

씨가 많거나 과피가 두꺼워 발생하는 고객 불만족 사례를 해결하고자 도입했다.

일반적으로 씨 적은 수박은 과피가 두껍고 씨가 적어 내열성과 내수성이 뛰어나 폭염과 폭우에도 쉽게 과육이 무르지 않는 특성이 있다.

이번에 선보인 두가지 상품은 폭염에 강한 씨 적은 수박의 강점은 유지하면서도 과피를 얇게 개선한 품종이다.

롯데마트는 신품종을 선보이고자 지역 우수 농가와 지난 2021년부터 3년간 3자 협업을 진행했다.

또한 블랙위너 수박을 업그레이드한 '블랙위너2(가칭) 수박'도 출시를 준비 중이다.

블랙위너 수박은 5년전 3자 협업 모델로 개발한 국산 신품종 수박으로 과피가 얇고 식감이 아삭한 것이 특징이다.

앞서 롯데마트는 올해 전라북도 완주 지역 하우스 3개동에서 시범 정식한 10톤 물량의 블랙위너2 수박을 지난 2주간 20여 개 매장에서 시범 운영해 완판을 기록했다.

이를 토대로 블랙위너2 수박 정식량을 확대해 내년에는 시범 운영 점포를 2배 이상 확대하고 오는 2026년에는 전 점에 출시할 예정이다.
