구글 대변인은 이와 관련해 "이탈리아를 포함해 우리가 사업을 운영하는 모든 국가의 세금 규정을 준수한다"며 "이탈리아 당국에 협조하고 있다"고 원론적으로 답했습니다.

2017년 구글은 이탈리아 국세청에 10여 년간 내지 않은 세금 3억6천만 유로,플래시게임245,320억 원을 내는 것으로 세금 분쟁에 합의한 바 있습니다.

당시 이탈리아 국세청과 사법당국은 구글의 이탈리아 현지 근무 인력을 근거로 고정 사업장이 있다고 간주해 탈세 조사에 나선 끝에 거액의 합의금을 받아냈습니다.
