[수원=뉴시스] 박종대 기자 = 이재준 경기 수원시장이 13일 열린 '대한민국특례시시장협의회 2024년 상반기 정기회의'에서 대표회장으로 추대됐다.임기는 7월1일부터 내년 6월까지다.

용인산림교육센터에서 열린 이날 회의에는 이 시장과 이동환 고양시장,이상일 용인시장,프로야구 승부조작 추가선수홍남표 창원시장과 준회원인 정명근 화성시장이 참석했다.지난해 12월 인구 100만명을 돌파한 화성시는 올해까지 인구 100만명을 유지하면 내년부터 특례시 지위를 얻게 된다.

대한민국특례시시장협의회는 이날 회의에서 '2024~2025년 사업계획'을 심의하고 ▲특례시 특별법 제정 관련 건의 ▲특별법 제정을 위한 학술세미나 개최 ▲특례시 지방분권 실현을 위한 정책토론회 개최 등 안건을 논의했다.

이 시장은 "대표회장으로서 더 나은 특례시를 만들기 위해 시장님들과 함께 열심히 뛰겠다"며 "대통령께서 제정을 약속한 '특례시 지원 특별법'이 특례시에 큰 전환점이 될 것이다.재정,조직,프로야구 승부조작 추가선수사무권한도 최대한 법안에 담아낼 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 말했다.
