동해에서 대규모 석유와 가스가 나올 수 있다고 분석한 해외 전문가가 공식 기자회견을 열었습니다.

그는 성공률이 20%에 달해 개발 가능성이 높다고 평가했지만 시추를 해봐야만 알 수 있다는 원론적인 답변도 내놨습니다.

아브레우 고문은 동해안에 석유·가스 개발이 유망하다고 강조했습니다.

"유망성은 상당히 높습니다.저희가 분석해 본 모든 유정에 석유와 가스의 존재를 암시해 주는 모든 요소가 갖추어져 있기 때문입니다."

석유나 가스가 나올 가능성이 높은 이른바 '유망구조'는 7곳이라고 밝혔습니다.

이 지점은 석유공사가 탐사해 온 동해의 3개 광구에 걸쳐 있습니다.

아브레우 고문은 매장량이 컸던 '가이아나 리자'의 경우도 가능성은 16%였다면서,마이 라이프 애즈 로타 - 빙고 플라밍고!이번 개발 가능성을 높게 평가했습니다.

"20%의 성공률은 굉장히 양호하고 높은 수준의 가능성을 의미합니다.5개의 유망구조를 대상으로 시추를 하면 1개의 유망구조에서는 석유를 찾을 가능성이 있다는 뜻입니다."

다만 경제성 있는 '탄화수소'가 누적됐는지는 아직 알 수 없다면서,마이 라이프 애즈 로타 - 빙고 플라밍고!이를 입증할 방법은 시추뿐이라고 밝혔습니다.

액트지오의 규모에 대해선 전문가인 팀원들이 세계 각지에 흩어져 있고 대규모 프로젝트의 분석을 소규모 업체가 맡는 건 흔한 일이라고 해명했습니다.

석유공사는 4개 업체의 경쟁입찰을 통해 액트지오 한 곳을 선정해 분석을 맡겼다고 밝혔습니다.

석유공사는 오는 12월 심해 지역에서 1차 탐사 시추를 실시합니다.
