24일 법조계 등에 따르면 인천지검은 강간미수 혐의를 받는 유 씨에 대해 "증거가 충분하지 않다"며 지난달 불기소 처분을 내렸다.

유 씨는 지난해 7월 미국에서 한국인 여성 A씨를 성폭행하려 한 의혹에 휩싸였다.A씨의 신고로 미국 수사당국에 체포된 그는 보석금을 내고 풀려난 뒤 한국으로 돌아왔다.하지만 A씨는 귀국 이후 유 씨를 재차 한국 경찰에 고소했고,핀란드 리그경찰은 지난 1월 사건을 검찰에 송치했었다.

가까스로 혐의를 벗어나게 된 유 씨는 연합뉴스를 통해 "무혐의 결정으로 억울함이 해소돼서 다행이다.이번 일을 계기로 모든 말과 행동에 더 큰 책임감을 느끼게 됐다"고 밝혔다.

한편 유 씨는 2014년 인천 아시안게임 배드민턴 단체전에서 금메달을 목에 걸었으며,핀란드 리그세계선수권에서도 3차례 메달을 땄다.2022년 은퇴한 이후에는 지난해까지 프리랜서 코치로 일한 것으로 전해졌다.
