서울 도심에서 역주행 뒤 인도로 돌진해 9명을 숨지게 하고 7명을 다치게 한 차아무개(68)씨의 체포영장이 기각됐다.

서울 남대문경찰서는 서울중앙지법이 지난 3일 경찰이 신청한 피의자 체포영장을 기각했다고 이날 밝혔다.

경찰 설명을 들어보면,신천역 3번출구법원은‘(차씨가) 출석에 응하지 않을 이유가 있다거나 체포의 필요성을 단정하기 어렵다’는 이유로 체포영장을 기각했다고 한다.차씨가 입원 치료를 받고 있고 경찰의 근거리 신변 보호를 받는 점 등으로 인해 체포영장을 기각한 것으로 풀이된다.

차씨는 지난 1일 밤 시청역 인근 조선호텔 지하주차장에서 나온 뒤 급가속해 일방통행로를 역주행하며 인도로 돌진했다.이 사고로 보행자 9명이 숨지고 7명이 부상을 입었다.차씨도 갈비뼈가 골절돼 현재 병원에 입원해 있는 상태다.

경찰은 이날 병원에 방문에 차씨에 대한 첫 피의자 조사를 진행할 계획이다.
