한국장기조직기증원은 지난 3월 뇌사 상태였던 故 송경순(59)씨가 가톨릭대 의정부성모병원에서 뇌사 장기기증으로 심장,간장,신장(좌우),폐장(좌우)을 5명에게 기증하고 숨졌다고 15일 밝혔다.

고인은 지난 3월 초 주변 이웃이 식사를 못하고 있다는 소식을 접하고 식사를 챙겨주러 가는 길에 계단에서 실족했다.급히 병원으로 옮겨져 치료를 받았지만,의식을 회복하지 못하고 뇌사 상태가 됐다.가족은 깨어나 다시 함께 할 수 없다면 어디선가라도 살아 숨 쉬길 바라는 마음에 기증을 결심했다.

경기도 포천에서 3남 3녀 중 넷째로 태어난 고인은 활발하고 주변에 음식을 만들어 나누어 주는 것을 좋아했다.또 밝고 쾌활한 성격이었다.불우한 아동을 후원 해오며 시간이 날 때면 주변의 어려운 이웃을 앞장서서 도왔다.

고인의 딸 임은솔 씨는 “하늘나라에서는 아프지 말고 친구들 많이 사귀고 행복하게 잘 지내길 바란다"면서 "우리 엄마여서 정말 고마웠다.사랑한다”고 말했다.

이삼열 한국장기조직기증원 원장은 “사랑하는 사람을 떠나보내는 것만큼 힘든 일은 없다"면서 "그 슬픔 가운데 다른 생명을 살리기 위해 기증을 결심한 기증자와 기증자 유가족에게 감사드린다.기증자의 아름답고 따뜻한 마음이 사회를 더 환하게 밝힐 것으로 생각한다"고 밝혔다.
