태국 방콕에 살던 렁통쿰쿨 씨는 친구와 한국 여행 중이던 지난달 27일 의식을 잃고 쓰러졌다가 뇌사 상태가 됐다.

급히 한국으로 날아온 가족들은 렁통쿰쿨 씨가 다른 생명을 살려 기적을 베풀기를 바랄 것으로 믿고 기증을 결심했다.

가족들은 “태국의 문화는 사람이 죽으면 다시 환생해 새로운 삶을 살게 된다고 믿기에 떠나는 순간 다른 생명을 살릴 수 있다는 것은 좋은 일이고,베풀 수 있는 가장 큰 선행이라 생각한다”고 말했다.

방콕에서 1남 3녀 중 둘째로 태어난 렁통쿰쿨 씨는 늘 밝고 다른 사람들에게 행복과 힘을 주는 긍정적인 사람이었다고 한다.방콕에서 헤어 디자이너로 일했고,메리트 바카라세계적인 디자이너가 되는 것이 꿈이었다.

렁통쿰쿨 씨의 어머니는 “너는 우리 삶에서 늘 최고였어.이제 편히 쉴 시간이니 다른 걱정은 하지 말고 하늘에서 편히 쉬어.우리는 항상 마음 깊은 곳에서 널 생각하고 사랑할게”라고 마지막 인사를 전했다.

장기조직기증원에 따르면 렁통쿰쿨 씨를 포함해 올해 외국 국적 뇌사 장기기증자는 모두 4명이다.
