넉 달 전 논문 조작 혐의를 받던 전북대학교 교수가 숨진 사건이 있었는데요.

해당 교수의 유가족은 학교 측의 논문 위변조 결정 과정에 문제를 제기했고,bregenz교수회가 진상 조사에 나섰습니다.

[리포트]

조작된 논문을 교수 재임용 심사에 제출한 혐의로 구속된 전북대 모 교수,지난 2월 구속적부심으로 풀려난 뒤 숨졌습니다.

교수 사망 직후 유가족은 해당 논문이 조작되지 않았고,bregenz이 논문을 결과적으로는 재임용 심사에 제출하지 않았다고 강조하며 경찰 수사가 부당했다고 주장했습니다.

이에 대해 경찰은 논문 조작 증거가 충분하고 증거 인멸 정황이 있었다고 반박했습니다.

유가족은 연구윤리감사실이 논문 위변조 여부를 잘못 판단하고 논문 철회에 관여한 게 사건의 발단이 됐다며 문제를 제기했고,

[숨진 교수 배우자 : "연구윤리감사실이라 하면 정말 규정을 잘 지키고 어떻게 보면 중립적인 기관으로서의 역할을 했어야 하는데 과연 정당하게 이걸 처리한 게 맞는지…."]

교수평의회를 통해 이번 사안에 대한 진상조사를 결정한 교수회는,독립된 위원회를 꾸려 사건 관계자들을 상대로 조사를 시작했습니다.

[김동근/전북대 교수회장 : "생각보다 조금 시간이 지체되긴 했지만 그래도 진실에 좀 접근할 수 있는 그런 시스템은 갖춰진 것 같아요."]

교수가 숨진 지 넉 달만에 시작된 진상조사 결과에 관심이 쏠리는 가운데,유가족 측은 숨진 교수가 남긴 유서 등을 토대로 법적 대응도 검토하고 있습니다.
