연극·뮤지컬의 아카데미상으로 불리는 토니상에서 미국에서 공연 중인 한국 창작 뮤지컬 '위대한 개츠비'가 의상상을 받았습니다.

현지시간 기준 16일 공연기획사 오디컴퍼니가 뉴욕 링컨 센터 데이비드 H 코흐 시어터에서에서 열린 77회 토니어워즈(Tony Awards)에서 뮤지컬 '위대한 개츠비'의 한국계 무대의상 디자이너 린다 조가 뮤지컬 부문 의상 디자인상을 수상했다고 밝혔습니다.

린다 조는 앞서 뮤지컬 '신사들을 위한 사랑과 살인 설명법'으로 2014년 토니상 의상상을 한 차례 거머쥔 바 있는 브로드웨이의 베테랑 의상 디자이너입니다.

'위대한 개츠비'에서는 여주인공 에바 노블자다의 드레스 10벌을 포함해 약 350벌의 의상을 디자인한 것으로 알려졌다.

국내 제작사 오디컴퍼니의 신춘수 대표가 현지 제작진과 함께 무대에 올린 뮤지컬 '위대한 개츠비'는 지난 4월 25일 미국 뉴욕 브로드웨이 시어터에서 정식 개막해 개막 3주 만에 매출액 128만달러(약 18억원)를 돌파하는 등 미국 내에서 흥행을 이어가고 있습니다.

오픈런(open run·폐막일을 정하지 않고 무기한 상연) 형식으로 미국에 진출한 '위대한 개츠비'는 당초 11월까지 공연할 예정이었지만,뉴캐슬 유나이티드 fc 경기미국 관객의 호평에 힘입어 내년 봄까지 연장 상연을 계획하고 있습니다.

서울미대에서 시각디자인을 전공하고 로스앤젤레스 캘리포니아주립대(UCLA)에서 석사 학위를 마친 김하나는 뉴욕 링컨센터,뉴캐슬 유나이티드 fc 경기뉴욕 퍼블릭 시어터,뉴캐슬 유나이티드 fc 경기맨해튼 시어터 클럽 등 미국 각지에서 다양한 무대 디자인 작업을 해왔습니다.
