BMW코리아가 수입차 업체로는 처음으로 전기차 배터리 정보를 공개했다.

12일 BMW코리아는 홈페이지에 BMW 전기차 배터리 제조사를 안내하고 소비자들이 직접 확인할 수 있도록 했다.

전기 스포츠유틸리티차량(SUV)인 iX1과 iX3 2종에는 중국 CATL 배터리가 탑재됐다.나머지 전기차는 모두 국내 업체인 삼성SDI 배터리를 장착했다.

삼성SDI를 적용한 모델은 전기 SUV인 iX(xDrive50·M60)를 비롯해 전기 세단 i4(eDrive40·M50),i5(eDrive40·M60),i7(xDrive60·M70)이다.

BMW코리아는 소비자 문의 시 전기차 배터리 제조사를 공개해 왔다.최근 인천에서 발생한 메르세데스-벤츠 전기차 화재로 배터리 제조사 공개를 요청하는 고객 문의가 많아지자 수입차 업체 최초로 자발적으로 공개를 결정했다.

국내에 출시한 BMW 전기차에는 삼성SDI 배터리가 주로 탑재됐다.앞서 올리버 집세 BMW그룹 회장은 지난 2022년 12월 방한 당시 이재용 삼성전자 회장을 만나 배터리 공급 등을 논의한 바 있다.

BMW 외에 벤츠,코벤트리폭스바겐,아우디,코벤트리볼보 등도 배터리 제조사 공개를 검토 중인 것으로 전해졌다.
