[앵커]

방송통신위원회는 KBS와 MBC 이사진의 임기가 8월에 끝나기 때문에,후임 인선을 위해서 오늘(28일)부터 공모 절차에 들어간다고 밝혔습니다.

국민의견 수렴 등이 필요한 공영방송 이사 선임은 통상 두 달 정도 걸리는데 이번에는 야당이 제출한 김홍일 방통위원장에 대한 탄핵안이 변수가 될 전망입니다.

지형철 기자가 보도합니다.

오늘 오전 소집된 방송통신위원회 전체 회의.

공영방송 새 이사진 선임을 위한 공모 절차 등 세부 계획안이 안건으로 올라왔습니다.

더불어민주당 등 야권은 절차 중단을 주장했지만,꽃길 토토 추천인김홍일 방통위원장과 이상인 부위원장은 더 늦출 수 없다며 회의에 참석한 2인 전원 찬성으로 의결했습니다.

[김홍일/방송통신위원회 위원장 : "(이사 선임 절차에) 대략 최소한 4~5주의 기간이 소요되는 점을 감안하면 더이상 임명 절차를 늦출 수 없어 부득이 오늘 선임 계획안을 처리하게 되었습니다."]

이에 따라 KBS와 MBC 대주주인 방송문화진흥회의 이사 공모 절차가 오늘부터 다음 달 11일까지 진행됩니다.

방문진 이사 9명의 임기는 오는 8월 12일에,KBS 이사 11명의 임기는 8월 31일에 끝납니다.

9월 14일 임기가 만료되는 EBS 이사 9명에 대한 공모는 다음 달 12일부터 시작됩니다.

이후엔 국민 의견 수렴과 결격 사유 확인 등을 거쳐,KBS 이사는 대통령에게 추천하고 방문진과 EBS 이사는 임명합니다.

이 과정에서 각 방송사에 대해 두 번의 의결이 더 필요합니다.

3년 전 진행됐던 현 이사진 선임의 경우,꽃길 토토 추천인7월 초에 시작돼 마무리까지 두 달 정도가 걸렸는데,김홍일 위원장에 대한 탄핵안이 국회를 통과한다면 절차는 중단됩니다.
