신용카드 대출로 5000만원을 인출해 보이스피싱 일당에게 전달하려던 시민이 은행원 덕에 피해를 면했다.

세종남부경찰서는 최근 고액의 현금을 인출하려던 40대 남성의 피해를 예방한 신한은행 세종지점 직원 A씨에게 감사장과 신고보상금을 수여했다고 27일 밝혔다.

경찰에 따르면 A씨는 자신이 일하고 있던 은행 창구에 방문한 피해자 B씨(남·40대)가 신용카드 대출을 받아 현금으로 5000만원을 인출하려는 점을 수상하게 여기고 112에 신고했다.

B씨는 현금사용처에 대해 묻는 A씨의 질문에 제대로 답변하지 못한 것으로 알려졌다.

전화금융사기 피해를 의심한 A씨는 B씨에게 전화금융사기라는 것을 알리고 즉각 인출 절차를 보류해 피해를 막았다.

B씨는 신고를 받고 출동한 경찰에게도 현금사용처에 대해 "투자를 위한 자금"이라고만 말하고 언제,압구정제주집 송도어디에 투자하는지 등 구체적인 현금사용처를 밝히기를 거부한 것으로 전해졌다.

경찰의 끈질긴 설득 끝에 검사를 사칭한 전화금융사기범에게 속아 현금을 인출해 전달하려 한 것으로 드러났다.

최근 전화금융사기 피해가 꾸준히 늘고 있다.세종남부경찰서 관내에서만 지난해 77건의 보이스피싱이 발생한 가운데 경찰은 형사과에 피싱 전담팀을 구성해 총력 대응하고 있다.

전국적으로도 지난해 10월까지 매월 평균 340억원대로 전년 대비 피해액이 28%가량 감소했으나,압구정제주집 송도11월 483억원,12월 561억원 등 피해가 급증하고 있다.

경찰 관계자는 "금융기관의 적극적인 협조로 고액의 범죄피해를 막을 수 있었다"며 감사 인사를 전했다.
