전수조사 결과는 1천189명…일자리 제공하고 복지서비스 연계

(대구=연합뉴스) 이덕기 기자 = 대구시는 폐지를 수집하는 노인들을 지원하기 위한 종합 대책을 마련했다고 16일 밝혔다.

시는 지역 구·군 시니어클럽과 함께 폐지 수집을 생계 수단으로 하는 지역 노인 200여명을 대상으로 '폐지수집 일자리 사업단'을 구성한다.

앞서 시는 지난 2월부터 5월까지 지역 284개 고물상 등을 통해 폐지수집을 하는 노인을 전수 조사했다.조사결과 폐지 수집 노인은 1천189명으로 파악됐다.

시는 이들 중 900여명은 건강 상태 등을 고려해 낮은 강도의 공공일자리 사업 등을 연계하고,today-sports.io/twitter/12696개인적 사유로 폐지수집을 계속하기를 희망하는 200여명은 일자리 사업단으로 편성했다.

폐지수집 일자리 사업은 어르신이 수집한 폐지를 구·군 시니어클럽과 연계된 고물상 등으로 가져가면 기존 평균 수입의 2배가량을 급여로 지급하는 방식으로 운영된다.

시는 또 돌봄이 필요한 어르신에 대해서는 안부 확인 및 일상생활 지원 등 맞춤형 돌봄서비스를 제공한다.

우울증이나 만성질환이 있는 어르신은 방문 건강관리사업과 연계해 간호사가 2개월에 1차례씩 주기적으로 건강관리와 상담 서비스를 제공하도록 했다.

정의관 보건복지국장은 "폐지수집 어르신들이 사회에서 고립되지 않도록 보건복지서비스를 적극 연계하고 안정적인 소득도 확보할 수 있도록 지원하겠다"고 말했다.
