[헤럴드경제=전새날 기자] 치킨 프랜차이즈 제너시스BBQ 그룹이 미국 뉴욕 타임스퀘어(Times Square)에서 광고 캠페인을 전개한다고 4일 밝혔다.

미국 뉴욕 맨해튼에 자리 잡은 타임스퀘어는 세계에서 가장 많은 관광객이 방문하는 랜드마크다.하루 평균 유동인구는 약 36만명에 이른다.연간 약 5000만명 이상의 관광객이 방문한다.세계 굴지의 글로벌 기업과 브랜드의 광고 각축장으로 불린다.

BBQ는 지난 1일부터 오는 8월 4일까지 타임스퀘어 광장 정중앙에 있는 원 타임스퀘어(One times square board) 전광판에서 광고를 송출한다.광고 영상은 15초짜리 영상 3개가 5분마다 45초,5주 동안 총 126시간,3만240회가 노출된다.BBQ 로고와 함께 역동적인 타이포그래피로‘한국식 치킨’과‘바삭함’을 강조한 세 편의 광고를 통해 BBQ를 세계에 알린다는 구상이다.

BBQ는 이번 타임스퀘어 광고를 시작으로 미국 내 매장 확장에 박차를 가할 계획이다.BBQ는 2007년 진출해 뉴욕,뉴저지,캘리포니아,스포츠 토토 온라인텍사스,하와이 등 주요 지역을 중심으로 확장해 오고 있다.최근 아칸소 주에 추가로 매장을 열며 총 50개 주 중 29개 주까지 진출했다.

BBQ 관계자는 “뉴욕의 심장 타임스퀘어 대표 전광판을 통해 BBQ가 세계인과 만나는 상징적인 순간”이라며 “앞으로도 다양한 채널을 통해 K-푸드 세계화에 앞장서겠다”고 말했다.

한편 BBQ는 미국 외에도 캐나다,파나마,코스타리카,스포츠 토토 온라인필리핀,말레이시아,스포츠 토토 온라인베트남,일본 등 전 세계 57개국에 진출했다.
