넥슨과 넥슨게임즈는 이날 퍼스트 디센던트를 PC와 콘솔 플랫폼으로 공식 출시했다.퍼스트 디센던트는 넥슨 그룹이 최초로 선보이는 공상과학(SF) 루트 슈터 장르 게임이다.루트 슈터는 캐릭터 성장과 아이템 수집이 중요한 역할수행게임(RPG) 요소와 총기를 이용한 전투를 즐기는 슈팅 게임 요소의 시너지 덕분에 주류 장르로 급부상했다.여러 장르가 합쳐진만큼 개발 난이도가 높은 것으로 꼽힌다.때문에 팬층은 두텁지만 장기 흥행에 성공한 게임은 적다.

글로벌 PC 게임 플랫폼 스팀에 따르면 퍼스트 디센던트는 출시 예정작‘찜하기' 순위 5위를 기록했다.이는 스팀에 출시 예정인 국산 게임 중에서 가장 높다.지난해 9월 진행된 오픈 베타 테스트에는 약 200만 명의 이용자들이 참여했다.기세를 이어간다면 장기 흥행에 성공할 가능성도 나온다.퍼스트 디센던트는 출시 전날 스팀에서‘매우 긍정적’지표를 획득했다.전체 의견 가운데 83%가 게임에 대한 긍정적인 평가였다.
