GS가 생성 인공지능(AI)을 그룹 전체 업무에 활용한다.미국 실리콘밸리식‘끝장 경연’인 해커톤(Hacking+Marathon)을 통해서다.

3일 GS는 서울 강남구 삼성동 인터콘티넨털 코엑스 서울에서 이틀간‘GS그룹 해커톤’을 개최한다고 밝혔다.올해 3회를 맞은 이 행사는 400여 명의 임직원이 참여해 챗GPT 같은 생성 AI를 각 계열사의 업무에 맞게 활용할 수 있는 신사업 아이디어를 고민하고 제안하는 자리다.

해커톤은 기획자‧개발자‧디자이너 등 다양한 직군이 팀을 이뤄 제한 시간 내에 문제를 해결하거나 새로운 소프트웨어 제품을 개발하는 이벤트다.페이스북 등 실리콘밸리 기술 기업들이 프로그램 개발을 위해 벌이는‘끝장 경연’형식으로 유명하다.GS는 GS칼텍스,kbl scoresGS리테일,kbl scoresGS건설,kbl scoresGS에너지 등 19개 계열사에서 참가 신청을 한 600여 명의 직원이 제안한 아이디어를 선별해 최종 351명(83개 팀)을 참가로 선별했다.

이들은 2주간 사전 준비 기간을 갖고 IT개발자‧UX디자이너 등 디지털 전문가 30명과 함께 챗GPT 같은 생성 AI를 익히고,kbl scores아이디어를 구체화하는 방식인 디자인씽킹 방법론 등을 학습했다.해커톤 기간에는 생성 AI를 활용해 평소 업무 현장에서 느낀 다양한 현상과 문제점 등에 대한 해결 방안을 빠르고 밀도 있게 찾아낼 예정이다.

GS그룹은 이번 해커톤에서 최종 선발된 아이디어는 실제 제품이나 서비스로 개발될 수 있도록 지원할 예정이다.GS는 올해 들어 디지털 전환(DX,kbl scores디지털 트랜스포메이션) 활동을 현장에 적극적으로 반영하는 데 주력하고 있다.허태수 GS 회장은 “생성 AI 등장으로 현장 직원들이 직접 디지털 혁신을 추진할 수 있게 됐다”며 “그룹 전반에 걸쳐 현장의 모든 임직원이 AI 도구를 익숙하게 사용하는 능력을 키워야 한다”고 말했다.
