서울 영등포경찰서의 세관 마약 수사 사건과 관련해 부당한 외압을 가했다는 의혹이 제기된 조병노 경무관이 수원남부서장에서 전남경찰청으로 발령났다.이를 두고 일각에선 사실상 '수평 이동'이라는 평가가 나온다.

14일 조지호 경찰청장은 조 경무관을 수원남부서장에서 전남경찰청 생활안전부장으로 인사 발령했다.

조 청장은 지난달 29일 국회 인사청문회에서 용혜인 기본소득당 의원이 "(조 경무관에 대해) 인사조치를 하겠느냐"고 묻자 "검토하겠다.충분히 검토할 가치가 있다"고 답했다.

조 청장은 수사 외압을 받았다고 주장한 백해룡 경정을 서울 영등포서 형사과장에서 강서서 화곡지구대장으로 좌천성 발령낸 데 대해선 "사건이 서울청 집중 수사 지휘 사건으로 돼 있기 때문에 주요한 내용을 서울경찰청에 보고할 의무가 있는데,해외축구경기(백 경정이) 여러 차례 공보 규칙을 위반했다"며 "보복성 인사는 아니다"라고 밝혔다.

앞서 백 경정은 지난해 영등포서 형사과장으로 재직하면서 마약 조직원들과 세관 직원들의 유착 의혹을 수사할 당시 서울청 생활안전부장이던 조 경무관으로부터 '보도자료에서 관세청을 빼라'는 수사 외압을 받았다고 폭로했다.
