수해 실종자 수색 작업 중 유명을 달리한 고 채수근 해병대 상병의 순직 1주기를 맞아 더불어민주당이 포항 해병대 앞에서 촛불문화제 등 대규모 집회를 예고했다.

10일 민주당 포항북구 및 남구·울릉 지역위원회는 합동 기자회견을 열고 "1년이 지난 지금까지 드러나지 않은 채 해병 사망 사건의 진실이 특검을 통해 밝혀져야 한다"며 채 해병 특검법 통과를 위한 행동에 나설 것이라고 전했다.

민주당은 이날부터 열흘 간 해병대 1사단 서문네거리(포항시 남구 오천읍)에서 피켓 시위를 벌이는 한편,레버쿠젠 대 sc 프라이부르크 라인업채 해병 사망일자인 17일에는 같은 장소에서 '순직 1주기 추모 촛불문화제'를 개최키로 했다.

민주당이 세운 이번 촛불문화제의 주제는 '격노'다.

박희정 민주당 포항남구·울릉지역위원장은 "어렵게 품에 안은 자식이 군대에서 목숨을 잃어 가슴을 찢으며 통과하던 부모의 격노,레버쿠젠 대 sc 프라이부르크 라인업진실을 알리고자 노력했던 사람들의 격노,레버쿠젠 대 sc 프라이부르크 라인업그리고 국민 모두의 격노를 보여주려 한다"고 했다.

아울러 민주당은 포항지역 국회의원인 김정재(포항시 북구,레버쿠젠 대 sc 프라이부르크 라인업국민의힘)·이상휘(포항시 남구·울릉군,레버쿠젠 대 sc 프라이부르크 라인업국민의힘)에 대해서도 "채 해병 사망의 진실을 밝히는데 앞장서라"고 촉구했다.

오중기 민주당 포항북구지역위원장은 "채 해병 사망 사건의 진실 규명을 위해 앞장서고 있는 포항 출신 박정훈 대령(수사단장)에게도 감사의 마음과 함께 연대의 뜻을 전한다"면서 "안타까운 죽음을 밝히기 위해 윤석열 대통령이 특검법 거부권을 철회할 수 있도록 지역 국회의원도 적극 나서야 한다"고 말했다.
