여성 민원인을 강제 추행하고 뇌물을 수수했다는 등의 사유로 청구된 김진하 양양군수에 대한 주민소환투표가 무산됐습니다.

양양군선거관리위원회는 사전투표와 본투표 등을 합산한 최종 투표율이 32.25%에 그쳐 개표를 실시하지 않는다고 밝혔습니다.

주민소환에 관한 법률에 따르면 해당 지역 유권자의 3분의 1 이상이 투표해야 개표를 진행하게 돼 있습니다

양양의 경우 최소 8천309명이 투표해야 개표할 수 있었지만 3천38이 그치면서 투표함을 열어보지 못했습니다.

이에 따라 김 군수는 직위를 유지할 수 있게 됐지만 현재 구속된 상태라 곧바로 업무에 복귀하진 못합니다.

역대 자치단체장을 상대로 주민소환투표가 진행된 사례는 이번을 포함해 모두 7번이지만 단 한 번도 개표로 이어지진 못했습니다.

한편 강제추행 등의 혐의로 구속기소 된 김진하 양양군수에 대한 첫 재판은 내일 오전 10시 춘천지법 속초지원에서 열립니다.
